William was born on July 2, 1948 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to his parents, William H. Brooks, Sr. and Dorotha Maxine Brooks. William Herbert Brooks Jr., or Bill as many knew him, was a proud military man. He began his military service immediately after high school, serving active duty for eight years. His job was critical to the military, making sure all missiles and launching mechanisms worked properly. At the end of his active duty, he met and fell in love with Nancy L. Mawhinney, who became his wife of 49 years. He worked as an aircraft electrician at Tinker Air Force Base.
William was a family man and an avid gardener who loved to share his crops with friends and neighbors. He absolutely loved trees and at one time planted over 200 at one time. If a helping hand was needed, he would always extend his. At a church he once attended in California, the pastor mentioned that the old shake shingles needed to come off the roof. The next day, William had his whole family out tearing off those shingles. He loved the Lord and his family.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William (Herbie) and Dorotha (Maxine) Brooks, sister, Carol Ann Brooks, sister, Rita Bean, his grandparents, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing are his wife, Nancy of the home, children, Christy and husband Matthew Kilby of McLoud, Jessica and husband Rickie Kemnitz of Yukon, Kelsey and wife, Codi Brooks of Shawnee, sister, Linda and husband Steven Poole of Virginia, grandchildren, Aerin (Kilby) Jaroszewicz of Shawnee, Victoria Kilby of McLoud, Daeten, Paxton, Easton, and Abigail Kemnitz of Yukon, and Tatum Brooks of Shawnee.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Kelsey Brooks, Rickie Kemnitz, and Matthew Kilby.
