Wendell R. York

Shawnee resident, Wendell R. York, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in an Oklahoma City hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 10 at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. Wendell was born in Okemah, Oklahoma on August 29, 1940 to Charlie & Velma York. He graduated from Mason High School. On May 24, 1961 he married the love of his life, Leta Joyce Taylor. They were married 47 years when she passed away on December 27, 2008. Wendell was a production/planning & engineering manager at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of the NRA, US Marshal Assoc. and the OK Sheriff’s Assoc. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Laura York Farmer of Shawnee and Wendy York Hudlow of Edmond. Grandchildren: Dustin York Hudlow & wife Kayla of Edmond, Gage Taylor Hudlow and wife Taylor of Okla. City, and Madison Rei Farmer of Shawnee. Great-Grandchildren, Kenleigh Hudlow, Lilliana Hudlow and two to arrive summer of 2019. His companion of 5 years, Loretta Gouker, and multiple family and close friends.
