Truman Franklin Rankins

Former Enid resident Truman Franklin Rankins, 85, passed away on Monday, December 16, at his home in Shawnee. Truman was born November 21, 1934, in Sugar Grove, Arkansas, to Granville and Verna (Townsend) Rankins. He graduated high school at Booneville High School in Booneville, Arkansas with the class of 1952. Truman proudly served in the US Army then continued service in the National Guard. On January 1, 1959, Truman married Sharon Vinson in Duncan, Oklahoma. He retired from Koch Industries, where he spent thirty years as diesel mechanic. Truman was a long time member of Northwest Missionary Baptist Church in Shawnee, and before that he’d spent many years as a member of Bible Baptist Church in Enid. Truman and Sharon enjoyed spending time as Camp Hosts at Shady Lake in western Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his two sisters and one brother. Truman is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children and their spouses, Charles and Laurie Rankins and Brenda and Paul Hill; grandchildren and spouses, Regina and Ke’vin, Paul and Brittany, Brad and Brittany, Kristen and Richard, and Kolten; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends. No services are planned at this time. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee.
