Tim Edward Taron

Timothy “Tim” Edward Taron was born on November 22, 1950 to Pierre and Lelia Taron in Shawnee OK, where he spent the entirety of his time on this earth. He went to his true home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2025.

As the youngest of 13 children, Tim was an uncle to 10 the day he was born. He spent his childhood insisting they call him “Uncle Timmy” and the rest of his life regretting it.

Tim was a devout Catholic, attending St. Benedict Catholic Church and School and later Shawnee High School where he graduated in 1969. He was a member of the Student Council and FFA, a pursuit that his son Mark and granddaughter Madalyn have enjoyed as well.

Tim spoke often of his time working on the family farm and at the turkey farm down the road and going on wheat harvests. He rode horses in the Shawnee Round-Up Club Drill Team with several of his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but spending time with family was his favorite pastime.

He married Carolyn Burrough on April 14, 1978, and they spent 47 wonderful years serving the Lord together and deeply in love. To see them was to see their love in action; they spent as much time together as possible, especially in the years after Tim retired. Together, they attended St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, where they served as youth directors and were active in Cursillo, Marriage Encounter, and ACTS.

Tim was a self-employed craftsman, building and remodeling many homes and churches in the area. He began working in construction at a young age with his father, learning the skills that would carry him through his life. Near the end of his career, he used those skills in a new business doing pre-purchase home inspections.

Retirement suited him well, chauffeuring his wife anywhere she needed to go, and eating lunch with her almost daily, going to McDonalds for breakfast, making friends with employees and patrons alike. Picking up his younger grandchildren from school and enjoying driving around with them and singing “really old songs.”

Tim was one of the most loving, welcoming people you would ever meet. His truest loves were God, his family, and to talk (in typical Taron fashion).

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter and son-in-law Ghislaine and Brian Washburn, son Daniel Taron, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Shantel Taron, bonus son, Walker Cross; grandchildren: Hunter Washburn & wife Kaitlyn, Taryn Holmes & husband Jeremy, Madalyn & Saydi Taron, bonus grandson, Benjamen Flanagan, and great-granddaughters Reylynn, Hayzen, and Kaydence Washburn, siblings Joe Taron, Mary Teresa Williamson, Leonard Taron, Katherine Mullin, Joan Jackson and husband Larry, and sister-in-law Chris Taron, along with nearly countless nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father & mother-in-law, Irvin & Anita Burrough, sisters and brothers-in-law: Louise & Gene O’Daniel, Anna Lee & Johnny Johnson, Virginia & Charles Northcutt, Richard, husband of Mary Teresa, Brothers and sisters-in-law: Pierre Jr. & Glennabelle Taron, Robert “Bob” Sr. & Barbara Taron, James “Jim” Taron, Bernard Taron, & Mary Louise Taron, wife of Joe, Bevlyn Taron, wife of Leonard, & Brother-in-law Brian Burrough.
