Susanne Manley, a beloved figure in the Tecumseh and Shawnee, Oklahoma School systems, as well as a former Catholic nun, passed away on May 18, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. Born on March 27, 1942, in Selden, Kansas, Susanne dedicated her life to education and service.
Graduating from Wichita State University, Susanne embarked on a career that spanned teaching and school counseling. Known for her fantastic sense of humor caring spirit, she touched the lives of many students and colleagues throughout her tenure. Her proudest accomplishments included receiving the Teacher of the Year award and the privilege of working alongside exceptional individuals at Will Rogers Elementary.
Outside of her professional life, Susanne found joy in simple pleasures. She had a deep love for nature, cats, frogs, and spending time in her yard tending to her flowers. An avid reader and football enthusiast, she took delight in watching Notre Dame & TCU games.
Susanne will be remembered for her infectious laughter, kindness, and dedication to those around her. She cherished memories of visiting the family farm in Kansas and spending quality time with her grandchildren, Nora and Miles, who brought immense joy to her life.
In mourning her loss are Susanne's surviving family members: her husband Wayne Manley; daughter Heather Steele and son-in-law Jordan Steele; son Mike Manley and daughter-in-law Sherry Manley; granddaughter Nora Steele; grandson Miles Manley; sisters Mary Lou, Dinny, Aggie; brothers Butch and Jim. She is predeceased by her father William Sulzman, mother Bertha (Betty) Sulzman, brothers Frank, Bob, Don; sisters Jeanette and Carol.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Susanne's life will be held on June 6th, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Shawnee. Friends and family are invited to gather at this location to honor and remember a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts with her generosity and love.
Susanne's legacy will live on through the lives she impacted and the memories she created. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
