Shirley Jean Kneisel

Shirley Jean Kneisel passed away at 12:27 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 from complications of an illness.Shirley was born December 16, 1946 in Maud, OK to Andy and Mae Gibson. They moved to Shawnee in 1955. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1965, and began working at the Styla Beauty Shop. She married Johnny, her husband of 51 years, on March 19, 1966 and soon after they bought the Brown Derby Drive In where she dedicated her life’s work. Shirley’s life revolved around taking care of her granddaughters and her great grandchildren. She loved watching OU Football and Thunder Basketball, Elvis, Conway Twitty, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, going fishing, her little dog Baxter, but most importantly spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Kneisel, daughter and son-in-law Julie and John Cody of Choctaw, grand daughters and their spouses, Anna and Bryan Steele of Shawnee, Emily and Jimmy Griffin of Yukon, great greatchildren Conner, Landen, Emma, Linden, and Piper. Siblings, Lorene Bourbonnais, Bob Gibson and his wife Verle, and Jeri Gibson McEntire, and many more friends and family whom she loved dearly.She is preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Mae Gibson. Her sisters Juanita Hopkins, Onita Gibson, Odean Gibson and Jeanette Greer. Brothers, Linden Gibson and Leon Gibson. Brothers-in-law, Mutt Hopkins and Leroy “Shug” Greer, and Richard Bourbonnais. Her father-in-law and his wife, George and Peggy Kneisel and her mother-in-law and her husband, Sarah Jane and Roy Hobby. The family will be at Walker Funeral Service on Monday from 6pm to 8pm to receive friends. Services will be held at 2pm Tuesday November 7th at Liberty Baptist Church, officiated by Shayne Lester. Internment immediately following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
