Russell Lee Haslam passed from this life on Sunday, January 21, 2024 near Hydro, OK. Russell was born February 9, 1970 in Beaver, OK to Joe and Methel (McCortney) Haslam. He graduated from Shawnee High School, and Oklahoma State University where he received his Master’s degree.

Russell was in the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 5 and served with the 160th Special Operation Aviation Regimen until he retired. After retirement he worked as a Base Pilot Supervisor with Air Evac Lifeteam.

While in the military Russell received many awards including the Bronze Star with Valor, three meritorious service medals, thirteen air medals, and the Broken Wing Award. He flew different aircraft during his career including the AH-6, MH-6, UH-1 Hueys, AH-1 Cobra, and OH-58D Kiowa Warrior.

He was a movie fanatic and pottery enthusiast. Russell enjoyed skiing and spending time with his two daughters. They took a ski trip to Colorado in 2023 that became his favorite vacation. Russell was so proud of his daughters and they were his world.

He dedicated his life to serving others and would do anything for anyone. Within the Shawnee community he was known to help the homeless community where he could.

He is preceded in death by his mother Methel Haslam, and Tommy Haslam.

He is survived by his daughters Abby Haslam and Riley Haslam; father Joe Haslam; brother Joe David Haslam; brother Timothy Haslam and wife Stacie; sister Christa Bryce; niece Kendra Haslam; niece Amanda Gunn; nephew Garrett Gunn; niece Torri King; nephew Nick King; nephew Kayson Bryce; niece Lauren Haslam; and nephew Stratton Haslam.

A funeral ceremony with be held February 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church.
