Roy David Hood, born on October 20, 1952, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, leaving behind a remarkable legacy built upon love, compassion, and craftsmanship.
Roy dedicated a significant part of his life to his career as a bricklayer, where his talents shone brightly. Known for his ability to "build anything," he was a master of his trade, crafting beautiful structures and leaving a mark on the community. Beyond his professional life, Roy was a fun-loving and outgoing individual. His kind nature and loving spirit drew people to him, and he was cherished by family and friends alike.
A devoted family man, Roy cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He held his family as his proudest accomplishment, and nothing brought him greater joy than fishing, hunting, and being outdoors with them. Roy had a deep love for music, and he found great joy in playing his guitar, often sharing his songs during cherished times with his family. He created many memories while teaching and helping those around him, particularly his beloved grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his daughter Shana Hawks and husband Becoy, son David Hood, and daughter Jennifer Lowery and husband Johnny. He also leaves behind his brothers Clifford and Terry, and sister Joyce. In addition to his immediate family, Roy's extended family includes his cherished grandchildren: Belcy Lowery and husband Bryan, Joseph Hood and wife Lesley, Joshua Hood and wife Hattie, Roy Hood, Brandon Herndon, Brandy Herndon and wife Celina, David Herndon and wife Miranda, Phillip Herndon and wife Kylie, Jimmy Lowery and wife Autumn, Heather Magar and husband Jake, Daniel Hawks, and Vanessa Mitchell. Roy's legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Breea Hood, Lakrisha Hagerman, Laythan Lowery, Jeremiah, Jake and Hayleigh Hood, Joshua and Mason Hood, Julieanna Herndon, Waylon and Walker Herndon, Easton Herndon, Aubrey, Leia and Cade Lowery, and Maddox, Remi and Kinsley Magar.
Roy is preceded in death by his beloved wife Billie Jean Hood, father Roy N. Hood, mother Francis Juanita Yother, brother Mike Hood and his son Baby Boy Hood.
Roy David Hood will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him for his unwavering love, kindness, and countless contributions to the lives of those around him. His spirit lives on in the memories cherished by his family and friends.
