Richard "Dick" Earl Grace

October 6, 1939 — May 3, 2021

Richard Earl (Dick) Grace went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 3rd 2021. He was born on October 6th 1939 in Okemah Oklahoma. His family eventually settled in Oklahoma City, where he attended school. He graduated from Classen HS in 1957 and went on to graduate from Oklahoma City University with a degree in Accounting. He had many jobs throughout his career, but Grace & Sons Appraisal Service, the local Shawnee business he started with his wife Jean, was the one he was most passionate about. They started the business out of their house with “two jobs and $80 dollars in their pocket” they would say. They were a great balance in business, as mom loved to socialize and dad loved to be paid for his opinion. He was known as an excellent appraiser, but was best known for his expert testimony. He was a highly sought after expert witness in the appraisal profession. As Grace & Sons grew they were able give of their time and money, always insisting that any “help” be anonymous. Dad had a close walk with the Lord and never shied away from telling others about Him and gave God all glory and praise whenever possible, in every situation. In the early 70’s he even had a pair of bell bottoms that had “Jesus Saves “ stitched near the cuff. It was that love for Jesus that made him an awesome Falls Creek counselor for many years, as well as a Bible Study leader and Preacher who traveled across the state. He mentored and discipled many throughout the years, leaving a lasting impression and mark on each of them. The only thing that rivaled his love for Jesus and Jean, his loving wife of 55 years, were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Going to Papa and Nana’s house was something they all looked forward to. His kids could always count on dad if they needed a break from his toddling grandkids. He would spend hours with them doing what they wanted, no sacrifice of time was too big to ask. You could count on brownies and fishing, shooting BB guns, jumping hay bales in the summer, and a tree swing that you needed a ladder to climb onto! He loved family and his grandkids were the highlight of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Grace and Norma Grace and his beloved wife of 55 years, Virginia Jean Grace. He is survived by his children: Bob Grace and wife Darla of Edmond, Allynn Grace of Midwest City, Jay Duke and wife Dana of Prague, and Linda McClain and husband Mark of OKC. His 10 Grandchildren: Jessica, Brent, Aaron, Audrey, Ryan, Graham, Liv, Levi, Noah, and Nicole. 6 Great Grandchildren: Celine, Wyatt, Jaycenn, Larramie, Kylah and Loyal Brother: Bob Grace and wife Melody of Amarillo, and many nieces and nephews, who he loved very much, as well as numerous friends. Losing both mom and dad in the short span of five months has been heartbreaking, but we rejoice in knowing that he has been made whole and at her side once again. Dad believed to the very end that God was in control, and fully trusted Him with his life. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Thank you for your boldness, for standing up for what you believed, and for loving God with all your heart, with all your soul and all your mind. We love you and thank God for you. Dick will lie in state at Walker Funeral Home Thursday, May 6th from 1pm to 6pm, and on Friday, May 7th from 10am - 6pm. A small family graveside service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8th at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, OK under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
