Randy Clayton Parsons passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on July 20, 2025. Randy was born on June 14, 1947, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Alfred Merle and Vera Mae Parsons. He started his early education in Stratford before his family moved to Shawnee in 1953. He was a graduate of Shawnee High School, Class of 1965. He attended East Central University right out of High School but was soon drafted into the military, where he became a member of the United States Air Force, serving as an Aircraft Electrician.
He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from August 1966 to April 1970 when he was honorably discharged. He returned to East Central and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree and a double major in English and History. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and a member of Who’s Who Among American College Students. He furthered his education at Oklahoma City University School of Law and graduated in 1975 with his Juris Doctorate. Randy was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Randy started his law career by joining his father’s law practice, which became Parsons and Parsons, for 20 years. In 1995, he opened his own practice and was very successful until his retirement in 2013. In June of this year, he received his 50-year pin as a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association. He was also a member of The American Trial Lawyers Association. Even after retirement, he enjoyed talking to old clients and continuing to give legal advice. He loved being with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and when he could, he loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and guns. He loved shooting so much he had his own skeet range at his home. One of his most recent and cherished accomplishments was that he read the Bible in its entirety.
Randy is survived by his wife of 30 years, Brandi of the home, his daughters, Randi Cayton Parsons “Cati” of the home, Jill Reneé Parsons of Shawnee, and Vera Jeneé Parsons of Shawnee, and step-son, KC Scott Steadman of Midwest City, grandchildren, Devin Parsons and wife Kaitlyn of Boston, Destiny Parsons of Shawnee, Daeden Blomquist and husband Jake of Kansas and Quintin Williams of Shawnee, along with two great-granddaughters, Alaiya and Ariya, and the newest addition, great-grandson Luka; his brothers and their spouses, Joe Rick and Joyce Parsons and Kelly and Kelli Parsons, all of Shawnee; as well as numerous nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Merle Parsons and mother, Vera Mae Parsons, as well as his cousins, Bobby Lanier and Merle Parsons.
Randy’s unwavering dedication to his family and the legal profession will be a lasting memory. His friends, however, will fondly recall his distinctive sense of humor. He embraced life wholeheartedly, eager to share his joy through captivating stories of his many adventures. A true teacher, Randy readily shared his legal knowledge and courtroom expertise, fostering the growth of fellow attorneys. He was a fierce advocate in court and deeply respected and beloved by his many clients.
Randy donated his body to Oklahoma State for medical science. There will be a celebration of life at New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:00 am.
