Ramona Ann Grider

Ramona (Mona) Ann Grider passed a way on Friday, October 22, 2021 at St. Anthony Hospital Shawnee. Mona was 68 years old. Mona was born on July 11, 1953 in Okemah, Oklahoma to William Clifton and Nora Marie Grider. Mona lived younger years in Wetumka, Oklahoma and was a true “Wetumka Cheiftains”. She lived her adult life in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Wetumka High School in 1971 and then attended and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Science from St. Gregory’s College. Mona was a licensed Medical Technologist and worked in the Lab at Mission Hill Hospital and finished her career at Alliance Health Seminole. You can find Mona loving on all her animals, reading a book, playing in the water at Lake Eufaula, or watching OSU football. The highlight of her life was following her only son Ryan in what every he was doing. Even though Mona only had one son, she would tell you that she had lots of boys from Grove School to the Kappa Sigma House at OSU. You could also find her in the kitchen preparing food for all her family gatherings and occasions for friends. Her nieces and nephews would tell you that she would purchase anything you wanted, you just had to ask. Mona was devoted mother, sister, aunt and friend to many people. Mona was preceded in death by her parents, one brother – Rex Lee Grider Sr., and one sister – Patsy Sue Welch. Survivors include her son, John Ryan Grider, brother and sister-in-law, Wayne (Christine) Grider, brother, Jerry Grider, and brother-in-law, Luther Welch. Mona was much beloved and an outstanding aunt to many nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Theopolis Social Club in downtown Shawnee on Sunday, November 14th from 3 pm to 5 pm as a come and go reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Youth and Family Resource Center, Inc. 326 W 11th, Shawnee, Oklahoma 74801.
