Nancy Jane Langley

November 9, 1938 — March 16, 2020

Our Mother, Nancy Jane Langley, passed quietly at home on Monday evening, the 16th of March, 2020. She was the daughter of Ann & Vyron Wallace, born November 9, 1938, in Cordell, OK. After attending school in Pauls Valley, she graduated from Norman High School. This is where she met and fell in love with Bill Langley. She married Bill Langley on December 21, 1957, in a small ceremony at home. It was the beginning of a full 45 year marriage that entertained family and friends, ranching, finance business and travel with many of those memories made near lakes and oceans because Nancy loved water and traveling and Bill, who passed in 2002.

Nancy was mother to Mike and Pattie. Her younger brother, Randy, spent much time with her because Nancy was a nurturer. She believed in spending time with her family and helping whenever she could. She was grandmother to Bret and Greg Smith, then Taylor, Phillip and Daniel Langley. She traveled with them, supported all their endeavors and loved them unconditionally.

Nancy was a strong center for her family. She also loved her church and she loved helping others. She had many friends that she spent time with traveling and worshipping and quietly enjoying life until the past years when her dementia kept her home. After her dementia, she was able to stay home due to the very good care of her providers. She still had a full and busy schedule that dwindled until she was bedfast. After that time, her team of caretakers and hospice kept her very comfortable and peaceful in her final days. Our family is so very grateful to all of you, as was Mom.

Our mother found a way to take care of others as well as herself .... a beautifully balanced life. She loved working with people, creating and helping in any way she could. Mother was the very best at organization, she was a steward of humanity and she did it all while wearing her red lipstick and a beautiful smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.

Survivors include her two children: Michael Langley and wife Dana of Shawnee, and Patricia Smith of Shawnee, grandchildren: Bret Smith and wife Brandee, Greg Smith and wife Kim, Taylor Langley and wife Hope, Phillip Langley and wife Chelsea, and Daniel Langley, great-grandchildren: Layla Smith, Atticus Smith, Molly Smith, Aubrey Smith, Sullivan Smith, and Leo Langley, 2 brothers: Robert Wallace and wife Grace of McAlester and Randy Wallace of Norman, a sister-in-law: Barbara McVey and husband Dick of Pawhuska, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

At this time, due to virus beyond our control, her interment will be in a private ceremony with family on March 24, 2020 at 2:00 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

We are sorry to have to be exclusive, but we will have her service available for viewing on emmanuelshawnee.com and her book is available for signing at Walker Funeral Home.

Please consider, in lieu of flowers, a donation to EEC Building Fund because it was so very dear to mom.
