Oklahoma City resident Michael Keith Thomason, 74, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 in Oklahoma City.
Graveside Services will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, OK, Wednesday, Dec 30, 2020, 1:00 p.m. A memorial services will be at the Heritage Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK on January 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
Michael was born May 20, 1946 in Port Arthur, Texas to David Benjamin Thomason and Agnes Bell (Irwin) Thomason. He graduated from Wewoka High School in 1964. He served in the National Guard for 13 years. August 31, 1967, he married Phyllis (Moody) in Wewoka and they were married 53 years. Mr. Thomason retired as a supervisor for AT&T after 31 years.
During the weeks following the Murrah building bombing, he was instrumental in keeping up communication with the F.B.I. and local law enforcement. During his career he also worked to establish Air Force One communications.
He enjoyed square dancing, serving as the State President of Oklahoma Square Dancing Federation in 2005, loved traveling in his RV, golfing, and motorcycling.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: David and Terry, and 2 sisters Patti Ann and Rebecca Jane.
Survivors include his Wife: Phyllis Thomason of the home, 2 children: Lisa Norwood and husband Travis of Edmond, Richard Thomason and Raquel Coley of Edmond, 1 granddaughter: Taylor Bowman and husband Daniel of Fife, WA, great-grandchildren: Adeline and Troy Bowman, niece: Tracy Davis of Norman, sister-in-law: Sharon Owens of OKC.
