Marland Lee McDaniel, 89, of McLoud, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026 in Shawnee Hospital. Viewing will be Sunday, March 29 from 1:00-5:00 PM, and family will receive visitors on Monday, March 30 from 5:00-7:00PM at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service in Shawnee, OK. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 2:00PM at The McLoud First United Methodist Church with Pastor Abigail Granderson officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
Marland was born on May 17, 1936, in Chandler, OK. He was adopted by Robert and Georgia McDaniel with the assistance of the Salvation Army, which led him to support their charities. He attended school at Arcadia, Luther, then McLoud, where he graduated high school.
McLoud is also where he met the love of his life, Mary Jane (Loman) McDaniel. They went on to marry in December 1956 and have two sons, Jodie and Tony. Their marriage was truly one for the record books, defined by enduring love and devotion. When Mary Jane's health declined, he cared for her with unwavering love, with the invaluable assistance of her sister Shirley, remaining by her side until Mary Jane passed in 2012.
In addition to providing for his family as a machinist and retiring from OG&E in 1994, Marland also built carports and was known for his skilled metal work. He was an active community member; coached his sons’ sports teams; was a Mason for over 57 years, holding his 33rd Degree honor for the majority of those years, and was the McLoud Lodge Worshipful Master when it was built in 1973. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of McLoud for nearly 80 years and was integral in the building and life of the church.
He also had many hobbies over the years which included square dancing, playing cards, playing the dobro, poking fun and telling jokes, but what he loved most was going fishing with his family and friends, tending to his garden, and giving away the fruits of his labor.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Jane McDaniel; son Tony McDaniel; parents Robert and Georgia McDaniel.
Marland is survived by son Jodie (Karin) McDaniel of Edmond; grandchildren Malissa Logue of Harrah; Brent McDaniel of McLoud; Brad (Randy) McDaniel of West Lafayette, IN; Tara (Chance) Bolduc of Edmond; Sara (Brian) Dougherty of Montgomery, TX; Liza McDaniel of Edmond; Emma McDaniel of Denver, CO; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Shirley Stevens of McLoud; and a vast number of extended family and friends that will miss him deeply.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Marland to The First United Methodist Church of McLoud or The Salvation Army.
