Maria E. McCarter

Shawnee resident Maria E. McCarter, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in Shawnee. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Maria was born May 28, 1933 in St. Miguel, Portugal to Joseph and Victorina Ventura. She came to the United States in the mid 1950’s and married Carlos N. McCarter on January 20, 1957. She worked most of her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Joseph, and 2 sisters: Beatrice and Inez. Survivors include 3 daughters: Leta McCarter of Shawnee, Vera McCarter of Shawnee, and Jackie Bade and husband David of Shawnee 8 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
