It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynn J. Baucom, a loving mother and a loyal and faithful wife. Lynn's courageous battle with heart disease came to an end on March 17, 2026. She was 80 years old.
Lynn was born in Monet, Missouri in 1945 and spent the first few years of her life in Galena, Kansas. Eventually the family moved to Oklahoma and she graduated from Shawnee High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma State University for two years and returned to Shawnee to work as a secretary at Oklahoma Baptist University. Lynn was a private pilot and worked part-time for the Civil Air Patrol. In the early 1970's she moved to Florida and worked for the Florida Secretary of State in the Division of Corporations. She transferred to Florida Dept. of Revenue in 1977 where she met her husband Harry A. "Al" Baucom and was married in August 1977. Lynn was an avid bowler and bowled regularly after retirement in 2007. She had great friendships with many of her fellow bowlers.
Lynn also worked for non-profit organizations in the 1980's (Tallahassee Housing Assoc.) and 5 years with the Florida Health and Rehabilitation Services.
In addition to her work accomplishments, Lynn was known for her warm and caring personality. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Lynn is survived by her precious daughter Kimberly Baucom and loving husband of 48 years Al Baucom, a sister-in-law Ann Barnes and brother-in-law Jack W. Barnes. Lynn is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Lavon Jackman.
A funeral service to celebrate Lynn's life will be held at 2pm Monday March 23, 2026, in the chapel at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Lynn will be laid to rest privately next to her parents at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
