Leo David Drake

Leo David Drake, age 88, of Shawnee, Oklahoma resident passed away Monday, July 7, 2025 in Shawnee. Leo was born May 22, 1937 in Apache, Oklahoma to John and Ruthey (McBride) Drake. The Apache area is where he was raised, graduating from high school there. Following high school, Leo joined the U.S. Air Force, starting a 20 year career with the branch. After high school, Leo met and courted Nadine McBride, but as life would work out, they didn't reconnect until years later after Leo had lost his previous wives, Barbara and Betty Ann, respectively. Leo and Nadine were remarried in Apache on July 7, 2012, celebrating exactly 13 years of marriage before his passing.

After his retirement from the Air Force, Leo found work as a dispatcher for the Warr Acres Police Department. The department gave him purpose and fulfillment for 10 years of service. As a faithful patriot and father, Leo especially enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. Additionally, he was a strong man of faith. Hope Church in Shawnee has been his cherished church home for nearly the past decade. As well, Leo was handy in the wood shop. His creations in furniture are still enjoyed by his family.

Survivors include his cherished wife Nadine, sons: David Drake of Oklahoma City and Terry Drake and wife Kadie of Harrison, AR; sisters: Norma Watts of Oklahoma City and Barbara McCann and husband Richard of Oklahoma City; in addition to four grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents and wives, Barbara and Betty Ann.
