Larry Thomas Wilkins

Larry Thomas Wilkins left this earth on Friday, March 10, 2023 to rest with the Lord. He was 75 years old. Larry was born on May 30, 1947 in Shawnee, OK to Thomas and Emma Louise Wilkins. He was raised in McLoud, Oklahoma where he attended and graduated from McLoud High School. He took part in basketball and FFA. Larry loved music. He was a drummer for his FFA Chapter and played at the National Convention. He later went on to be a base player in the band Night Shade and played into his 30’s. After high school, he married Carolyn Freeman, and they had two daughters, Catherine Mae and Kimberly Renee. He later married Beverly Davis in 1974 and they had one daughter, Shandra Louise. They moved to Bethel Acres in 1983 where they lived until moving to McLoud in 2003 where he remained until his passing. Larry worked many types of jobs in his life from driving an 18 wheeler, selling shoes and then settled at White’s Ace Building Center, as a Floor Manager, where he retired after 22 years.

After retirement, Larry focused more on travel and family. He spent a lot of time at Lake Eufaula where he enjoyed fishing and going out on the boat. He loved spending time with his family and friends and had started a tradition of taking an annual cruise with his dear friends and companion, Nita. Most average days you could find him on his tractor or working on a project around his place with his nephew, Monty.  

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Wilkins, father, Thomas Wilkins, mother, Emma Louise Wilkins, brother, Edward Wilkins and granddaughter, Kassidy Wilkins.  

He is survived by daughter, Kimberly Murry of Tecumseh, daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and RJ Jones of Meeker, daughter and son-in-law, Shandra and Layne Lindley of Edmond, grandsons, Christopher Tucker of Shawnee, Kyle Koch of Shawnee, and Grayson Thomas Lindley of Edmond, great-grandchildren, Hazel Tucker of Tecumseh, Olyvia Tucker of Shawnee, Joseph Tucker of Shawnee, Kyson Wydman of Shawnee, and several in-laws, cousins, extended family and friends.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 8am-7pm with family present to greet friends from 5-7pm. A funeral ceremony for Larry will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Chapel. Following the ceremony, Larry will be laid to rest at Dale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Monty Prince, Joe Sumpter, Kyle Koch, Paul Wagner, Zachary Prince, and Layne Lindley.
