Karleen H. Osborn

Karleen Helen (Moore) Osborn, 90, of Shawnee died peacefully in her home on August 31, 2021. She was born July 15, 1931, in Dallas, Texas, to Reverend Karl H. Moore, Th.D., and Jennie (Ross) Moore. She attended schools in Brownwood and Sonora, Texas, before graduating from high school in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music education with a minor in voice from Oklahoma Baptist University. She married Donald G. Osborn on January 28, 1951. Four daughters blessed this union of 56 years. Mrs. Osborn was an accomplished homemaker and taking care of her family was her first priority and greatest love. Mrs. Osborn was forever a teacher at heart and always ready to share learning experiences with others. She taught music at Jefferson School in Shawnee for two and a half years and private piano for 30 years. She also worked with Mrs. O’Neal at her preschool for several years. A violinist, she played in quartets for numerous meetings in Shawnee and at OBU. She also enjoyed her participation in the Shawnee Choral Society and Orchestra. A member of Shawnee’s First Baptist Church for 73 years, Mrs. Osborn was ready to help wherever needed to support her church family. She sang in the Adult Choir and served as director of a children’s choir and leader of Girls’ Auxiliary. She was also a Sunday School teacher of two-year-olds for fifteen years. Mrs. Osborn was a Camp Fire leader for fifteen years, helping guide each of her daughters and many young women to the Wo-he-lo Award. Mrs. Osborn was preceded in death by her husband, parents and by her sister, Jennie Lou Breland. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Kay and John Harder, Rochester, NY; Carol and Bill Heitland, Norman, OK; Kim and Cam Loucks, Lewisville, TX; and Cathy Megee, Shawnee, OK; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Oklahoma Baptist University for the Donald G. Osborn Scholarship. A memorial service will be at 2:30 P.M. September 17, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Shawnee. A private graveside service will be held. Her body will lie in state from 8:00 am Friday until 6:00 PM. Family will be present from 4:00 until 6:00. Viewing will also be Saturday from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm.
