Johnny Lee Bass was born March 6, 1956, in Oklahoma City, OK and passed into his eternal life on April 26, 2026, in Albuquerque, NM, at the age of 70.
John was born to James Marvin Bass and Aurelia Maxine Jacobs. As the youngest of four children, he brought lots of excitement to their family dynamics. John attended Oklahoma City Public Schools. The last being Crooked Oak Schools. John went on to have many jobs in his lifetime. He performed Tree Services; Construction work; he was a Steel Worker; otherwise, an all-around Jack of All Trades. John’s most important job was his family. John loved his family. With two older sisters, this trio had lots of fun and loads of great memories together.
In 1976, John joined the military and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
John became an avid Oklahoma sports fan. Depending on who you talk to, it could be OU, OSU, or even the OKC Thunder.
John later met Glenna and moved to Shawnee, where he settled down and raised their two children. For nearly 38 years, John loved attending the Iowa Tribe Pow-Wows and traveling to different places with the tribe and his wife. Living with Glena in Shawnee, this is where he lived for the rest of his life.
John is survived by his wife, Glenna of the home; 7 children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Marvene Moore; his stepfather, George Rohla; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James Marvin Bass and Aurelia Maxine Jacobs-Rohla; his stepmother, Jewel Bass; one infant brother, James Marvin Bass, Jr.; one sister, Tana Karen Nemke; one stepbrother, Timmy Rohla and his wife Kelli; and one great-grandson, Jackson.
John was on this earth for 70 years, and he lived his life to the fullest, full of love and family.
Viewing for Johnny will be held at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. A funeral ceremony will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 10:30 am at the Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Iowa Tribal Cemetery in Perkins, OK.
