Joan Raye Aldrich

Shawnee resident Joan Raye Aldrich, 71, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Joan was born September 24, 1952 in Enid, Oklahoma to Darl Dowell and Mirth Gilbert Dowell Beall. She graduated from high school in Lamont, Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma State University.   She married Stan Aldrich and spent time as a homemaker but also did clerical work for various attorneys and Conoco Phillips.  She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, the Book Club, and active in Women’s Ministries.  She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a step-father: Dale Beall.

Survivors include a daughter: Ashley Aldrich of Porter, OK, a son:  Ryan Aldrich and wife Rebekah of Shawnee, 5 grandchildren: Luke Aldrich, Abby Gourd, Hank Aldrich, J.J. Gourd, and Tuck Aldrich, a sister: Darla Tharp of Tonkawa, 2 brothers: Jay Dowell of Ponca City, and Pat Dowell of Lamont, her ex-husband: Stan Aldrich and wife Wendy (who helped care for her) and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
