Imogene Delta French, known lovingly as Imy, left this world on October 31, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy woven through the lives of her family and friends. Born on December 14, 1939, Imy was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and beloved grandmother, who dedicated her life to caring for her family.
Imy spent her early years devoted to homemaking, ensuring her home was a warm and loving haven for her children. Once they had grown, she transitioned into a fulfilling career as a florist, a profession she embraced for over 30 years between Grave's Floral and Mary Jane's in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Her creativity flourished in the art of floral arrangement, bringing joy and beauty to countless occasions.
She was known for her playful spirit, often enjoying leisurely puzzle-solving while sharing laughs with family. Imy also had a penchant for whimsical visits to the "no-no," a term that encapsulated her fun-loving nature and zest for life. However, it was her deep love for her family that stood as her proudest accomplishment. She cherished the moments spent with her five grandkids and ten great-grandkids, relishing in the joy that each one brought into her life.
Imy shared a beautiful life with her late husband, John Edward French, whom she lovingly lost after more than two decades of marriage. Their bond was a testament to unwavering love and partnership, which continued to inspire those surrounding them.
She is survived by her sons James Wylie and wife Vickie of Shawnee, and Jeffery French of Shawnee; her daughter Sheila Downey of Norman; and her son Joseph French and wife Kassy of Oklahoma City. Imy also leaves behind her sister Genevieve Hensley of Euless, Texas, and brothers Jackie McElfresh and Donald McElfresh, both of Shawnee.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband John Edward French, her mother Maggie McElfresh, father James McElfresh, daughter-in-law Kim French, and nine siblings.
Imogene Delta French was a woman of grace, a beacon of love, and a nurturing presence for all who knew her. Her laughter, warmth, and passion for family will forever resonate within the hearts of her loved ones. As we say goodbye, we carry forth her legacy of love, kindness, and joy, promising to honor her memory in all that we do.
