George "Eddie" E. Fowler

Longtime Meeker resident George “Eddie” E. Fowler, 67, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in Shawnee.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Mike Neal officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.

George “Eddie” E. Fowler was born on June 14, 1952 in Meeker, Oklahoma to Theodore “Ted” and Orah “Vernie” (Wilson) Fowler. He was a Meeker High School graduate, class of 1970.  He was a Dairy Farmer from 1970-94, worked as a guide for the Breakfast Creek Bird Hunting Ranch from 1997-2001 and he raised beef cattle with his family throughout his life.  Eddie married the love of his life, Karen (Hubbell) Fowler on November 10, 1973.  Eddie enjoyed the outdoors.  He especially loved teaching his daughters, nephews, great-nephews, granddaughter and grandson all about hunting and fishing.  Eddie served as the treasurer and secretary of the Sparks Coon Hunting Club.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Theodore “Ted” and Orah “Vernie” Fowler:  his father-in-law Delbert Hubbell and his brother-in-law Floyd Chapman.

Eddie is survived by his Wife of 46 years:  Karen Fowler of the home, two daughters: Melanie Young and husband Matthew of Mason, Heather Kaplan and husband Matt of Meeker, four grandchildren:  Rylee Young, Daythan Lawson and Katy & Layton Kaplan, sister:  Judy Chapman of Meeker, mother-in-law:  Joan Hubbell of Meeker, two sisters-in-law:  Peggy Cullison and husband Randy of Meeker, Betty Wright and husband, Garey of Meeker, two nephews:  Marc Chapman and wife Kim of Meeker and Toby Chapman of Meeker, two great-nieces:  Madison and Mallory Chapman, three great-nephews:  Kaden, Caleb and Casen Chapman along with other family members including his lifelong friends.

Eddie was a man of strong convictions and character.  He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
