Gary Dale Walter, age 80, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on October 9, 2025.
Gary was born on November 1, 1944 to Bobbie J. Hill and Howard F. Walter in Malden, Missouri.
Gary was single at the time of his passing. Gary’s first wife, Bronwyn Sparks of Christchurch, New Zealand preceded him in death. Gary’s second wife, Nancy Betts, also preceded him in death. Gary had no siblings.
Gary was a retired Contracting Officer from Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma and a retired California Army National Guardsman. Gary was a Vietnam veteran of the US Navy and served in the Illinois Air National Guard and the Arizona Army National Guard as well. While serving in the military, Gary did a lot of travelling. He visited 16 foreign countries and 48 of this country’s 50 states in his travels.
Gary enjoyed local dirt track car racing, especially the sprint cars. He was also a committed fan of the Oklahoma City Blazers and Oklahoma City Barons during their tenures.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Kristin M. Williamson of San Antonio, Texas and son, Taylor J. Brian of Travis AFB, California; grandson Christopher M.C. Williamson of Beaufort, North Carolina, granddaughter Alexa R. Williamson of Morehead City, North Carolina, granddaughter Trinity S. Brian, and grandsons Jax Brian and Hunter Brian.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, as well as all of his aunts and uncles.
