Frances Catherine Bouska

Frances Catherine Bouska, resident of Shawnee, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. She was 63 years old. Frances was born on December 24, 1961 in at St. Joseph Catholic Hospital in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She attended Washington Elementary, Blackwell Junior High, and graduated from Blackwell High School. Frances was baptized and received her first communion at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She completed her confirmation at Saint Catherine Catholic Church in Blackwell.

She earned an associate’s degree from Platt College and received perfect attendance. She worked as a CNA at nursing homes in Paul’s Valley, Wynnewood, and Davis. Later, Frances worked at the Sac and Fox Casino in Shawnee as a housekeeper and hostess. Due to serious illness, Frances had to retire at age 40.

She attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Paul’s Valley, OK and then Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Konawa, OK. She moved to Chandler in 2001 with her son, her father, and her sister and attended Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in Chandler, OK. From 2004-2008, Frances attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague, OK. After moving to Shawnee in 2008, she attended St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Frances loved to cook and bake, especially the vegetables from her garden. She enjoyed being outdoors whether she was gardening, swimming, hiking, or picnicking. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family during family reunions. While traveling, Frances would often seek out the local Catholic Church to attend. She was a women led by faith and attended daily Mass, Midnight Mass, Holy Days of Obligation, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week Mass Services, Rosary Rallies, and Station of the Cross Service during Lent. She served her community through funeral and advent dinners and helping with the carnival fundraiser and Project Nickolas. Frances also helped make rosaries which were sent to various countries around the world.

Frances had a special place in her heart for her son, Michael. She loved watching him play football at Chandler High School and was so excited when they won the state championship. But nothing made her more proud than watching Michael be confirmed in Oklahoma City.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Violet Bouska; brothers, Christopher Bouska, Herman Bouska, Johnny Bouska, and William Bouska; sister, Violet Grace “Gracie” Bouska; nephew, Joseph Bouska; grandparents, Peter and Anna Bouska, William and Dorothy Vorhis, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael A. Bouska; sisters, Mary Bouska Pittman and husband David, Anna Bouska Calvey and husband Alan, Theresa Bouska Vega and husband Jose, and Rose M. Bouska; sister-in-law, Sharon Conrad Bouska; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, and one uncle.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 4-6pm. A wake service will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Shawnee on Thursday, October 30th at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 10:00 am. Following the ceremony, Frances will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Cemetery in Chandler.
