They had two daughters, Betty Lou and Patsy Sue.She was a member of Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as Church Clerk and Tiny Tots Sunday School Teacher for many years.Estell and Vernon ran a grocery store in Shawnee before moving to the country when he began road construction and farming. Estell was a homemaker who gardened and preserved what she grew, crocheted and sewed for herself and the whole family. Her creations were always treasured gifts! After Vernon’s death August 16, 1961, Estell began to find ways to fill her time. She served as a volunteer “Pink Lady” at Shawnee Regional Hospital and began working at Sperry’s Jewelers. She also began to travel, visiting various places around the United States and the World. She would travel with friends, or at times with strangers who would call and ask her to share a room. She was fearless and told of a time her tour bus left her at one stop in Jerusalem, and she caught a ride to the next check-in point with a total stranger who offered her a ride. What upset her most about the whole ordeal was that she missed seeing Jacob’s Well! She married Robert Wood September 19, 1987 and moved with him to his farm near Meeker. There she began to help him with orphaned calves, driving a tractor, and other various duties required on a working ranch.
