McLoud resident Gene Carpenter, 85, passed away October 4, 2021 in McLoud, OK. Graveside services will be 10:00AM Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Dale Cemetery with Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at Walker Funeral Service. He was born June 28, 1936 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Marvin “Jack” Carpenter and Vera (Moore) Carpenter. He married Shirley (Guillot) on December 27, 1956 in McLoud. Gene was a retired produce manager who enjoyed farming and fishing. He also enjoyed planning and taking the “older folks” on bus tours. He was member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in McLoud. He was known as a dad – brother – uncle and pawpaw to his grandkids and great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirley. Gene is survived by 2 sons: Marvin Carpenter and wife Sheila of Dickson, OK, and Kenneth Carpenter of McLoud, OK. 3 daughters: Karen Bennett and husband Richard of McLoud, Susan Ford of Mead, OK, and Mary of McLoud. 4 grandchildren: Angela “Nickey” Bennett of Los Angeles, CA, Cameron Bennett and wife Amanda of Moore, OK, Brandi Brown of Ardmore, OK, and Emily Brauer and husband Tim of Mead, OK. 7 greatgrandchildren: Caiden Reed, Roxi Reed, Breeahna Ginn, Aliya Bennett, Nixon Reed, Calliope Reed, and Creed Bennett. 2 step-great-grandchildren: Avery and Mallory Brauer, 2 sisters: Mary Lou Henderson and husband Edward of Dale, OK, and Kathy Bourne and husband Roy of Fletcher, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
