Douglas Vaughn Switch, Sr.

Douglas Vaughn Switch Sr., 77, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his home. Douglas, the son of Melpherd James and Faye Ramona (Longhorn) Switch, was born on July 21, 1943, in Shawnee in the Johnson Community. Douglas was a heavy equipment operator and auto and diesel mechanic at various places for 37 years. On June 3, 1999, Douglas married Kathryn Elizabeth Brown, in Shawnee. He lived his life for the Lord and was active in church with the Independent Assemblies. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie James Switch and Alvin Washington; sisters, Beatrice Ellis and Lavona Washington; uncles, William Switch, Floyd Switch, and Herbert Switch; and an aunt, Zelma Couch. Douglas is survived by his wife, Kathryn E. Switch of the home; a son, Douglas Switch Jr., of Shawnee; daughters, Redonna Switch, of Oklahoma City, Jennie Tello-Faz, of Ponca City, and Faye Connors, of Ponca City; brothers, Melpherd Dewayne Switch, of Norman, Gary Washington, of Crawford, Georgia, and George Washington of Shawnee; sisters and brother-in-law, Marilyn Sue and Michael Longdon, of Potwin, Kansas, and June Buckner, of Shawnee; 16 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 3, 10:00 AM, at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel, with Victor Cope and Ellis Rolette officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee.
