David Joe Edwards

David Joe Edwards, resident of Meeker, joined the Angels on Thursday, February 10, 2022; gone too soon. He was 61 years old.

David was born on March 18, 1960 in Madera, California to his parents, Joe and Lois Edwards. David joined the plumbing union local 344 in the early 2000's and was there until he retired in 2015 at the age of 55 years old to be a full-time papa.

David enjoyed fishing, building anything, woodworking/burning, working in his garage or in his yard, but his most treasured hobby was anything he got to spend time doing with his grandkids. David loved Christmas and would begin in October preparing for his Christmas light display. He would spend countless hours working to make sure he had the most amazing display purely to see the lights sparkle in the eyes of his grandchildren.

David was a loving, caring, and dependable friend, neighbor, brother, uncle, cousin, and an excellent listener and advice giver. He was the best husband to Annette for 42 years, an amazing father, and the most devoted and dedicated Papa. David was simply an all-around good man, one that will be devastatingly missed, but never forgotten.

David is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Edwards and his father, Joe Edwards, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley and Robert Haese and by his brother-in-law, Joe Haese.

David is survived by his wife and best friend of almost 44 years, Annette, who continues to reside in the home David built for her and their two children 22 years ago. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kristin Edwards of Davenport, daughter, Alicia Edwards of Shawnee, five precious grandchildren that he lived every day for, Troy, Trevor and Kaylee of Davenport and Maddasyn and Cashion of Shawnee, sisters, Linda Sharon and Cathy, brother, Steve, two sisters-in-law, Angela Potts and Darla Haese, as well as his two brothers-in-law, Charlie and Denver, his closest and dearest friends, Kathie and Dennis Reynolds of Eufaula, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many people who just love David.

A funeral ceremony for David will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Walker Funeral Chapel. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday and Thursday until 6:00 pm with a family visitation on Thursday from 4-6pm. Following the ceremony, David will be laid to rest at Osceola Cemetery in Butler, OK at 3:00 pm.

Casket bearers will be: Chris Edwards, Troy Edwards, Trevor Edwards, Cashion Palagonia, Steven Edwards, Gregory Edwards, and Austin Potts. Honorary Casket bearers will be: AJ Haese and Stanley Slavic.
