Darren Nathaniel Warren

Darren Nathaniel Warren went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 14, 2025, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Darren was born on January 9, 1969 in Huntsville, Alabama, to Dan and Sue Warren. He spent most of his life in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and often recalled fond childhood memories of summers spent fishing with his dad and playing outside in the neighborhood until it was dark.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1987. It was in high school where Darren met the love of his life and the person God so carefully chose for him, Kimberly Dawn Bowen. They began dating in high school and were inseparable ever since. They were perfect for each other, with Darren’s laid-back disposition and sense of humor providing the perfect balance to Kimberly’s Type A personality. They graduated from Shawnee High together in 1987 and were married just two days after Darren’s 22nd birthday. Shortly after, they welcomed their two beloved children into the world: their son Blaine in 1991, then their daughter Kelsey in 1993.

While newly married and a young father, Darren obtained his bachelor’s degree in history from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where Kimberly was also hard at work earning a law degree. After graduating, the young family moved back to Oklahoma, where Darren used his natural leadership skills to manage several different restaurant establishments.

While Darren was proud of his restaurant career, he left it behind to become a deputy at Pottawatomie County. Law enforcement was Darren’s passion and what he felt called to do. He proudly served his community as both a deputy and dispatcher until he retired due to a degenerative spinal disease that left him physically unable to work. The condition was one he would unfortunately battle for the rest of his life.

Darren enjoyed cooking and eating great food and was a sports enthusiast - cheering on his favorite football teams, OU and Ohio State, and watching horse races. More than anything though, Darren loved spending time with family and friends, as well as spoiling his two young granddaughters. He spent countless hours coaching his kids’ teams in baseball and basketball.

He had a heart for the Lord and started a Daily Bible Verse and went on a mission trip to Leon, Mexico.

Those who knew him best remember him for his innate sense of humor, wisdom that seemed beyond his years, unshakable faith, and an uncanny ability to be right, seemingly about almost everything. Darren loved deeply and was loved deeply in return. He is dearly missed by his family. Though our hearts ache, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and being reunited.

Darren is survived by his wife, Kimberly Dawn Warren of Shawnee; his son, Blaine Warren of Shawnee; his daughter, Kelsey Warren-Bryant and husband Adam Bryant of Norman; two granddaughters, Zoey and Phoebe Bryant; his brother, Brian and wife Gina Warren of San Antonio; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lorna Bowen Scarberry and Larry Bowen of Bethel Acres; and brother-in-law, Chris and wife Frances Bowen of Newbury Park, California, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Sue Warren.
