Cullen Scott Walker, 30, passed away in Tempe, Arizona, on June 16, 2025.
Born on September 8, 1994, Cullen is the beloved son of Mark and Lisa Walker. He is known for his sensitive, empathetic heart, quirky sense of humor, quick laugh, love for those with special needs, and fierce loyalty. God gifted him with intelligence and the ability to find common ground with anyone. Cullen had a natural ability to put others at ease and add value to any conversation, while at the same time being aware of the feelings of those with whom he conversed.
Cullen attended South Rock Creek Elementary School where he played football, baseball, basketball, ran track, and was captain of the academic team. He graduated from Shawnee High School, where he played varsity football, ran track, was the senior class president, and graduated at the top of his class. One of his favorite high school memories was making the state playoffs in football. Cullen was a proud alumni of Oklahoma University, where he studied MIS, was a member of SAE where he made lifelong friends, and loved cheering on Sooner football at home and on the road.
A member of Aydelotte Baptist Church, Cullen was baptized by Ken May in 2007 and believed in the Lord Jesus as his savior.
From the time he could look at a book, Cullen preferred DK Knowledge encyclopedias about any type of reptile or insect to Dr. Seuss or Eric Carle books. His quest for knowledge never stopped, and he was known for his many “Cullenisms.” His childhood was filled with attending church, building Star Wars Legos, playing baseball, vacationing with family, summertime swimming with friends and family, spending holidays eating “old people food,” searching for snakes and insects with his dad, and playing video games. As he grew older, he loved to hang out with his many friends, attend football games, read many different types of books, watch and discuss movies and politics, play video games with friends, watch videos to learn anything and everything, and take long walks with his dog, Mac.
Although not usually the adventurous type, Cullen left Shawnee after college to take a job in Phoenix, Arizona, as an intern for Oracle Software and also worked in risk management at Amazon. He moved to Tempe to work at Carvana’s headquarters and, most recently, was a data analyst for JP Morgan/Chase in their Tempe office. He also helped care for his beloved Nonno, who lived in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Cullen is survived by his parents, Mark and Lisa Walker; his sister, Mellyn Walker; grandmother, Diana Haven; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Cullen’s life will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Shawnee, Oklahoma, on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11:00 am. In honor of Cullen’s giving nature, the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Angel Tree at Salvation Army.
