Chad Mitchell Thompson, a loving son, devoted brother, and cherished friend, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 39. Born on March 24, 1986, in Altus, Oklahoma, Chad made a lasting impact on the lives of many with his caring nature and adventurous spirit.
Chad's educational journey began at Shawnee High School, from which he graduated before pursuing further studies at Seminole State College for a year. His career was marked by expertise in AutoCAD drawing development, but he was perhaps best known for his work as an owner and operator of a commercial truck driving business, a role that he took great pride in. Among his proudest accomplishments was obtaining his commercial drivers license and offering his talents to help others in their projects, whether it involved building or repairing equipment, or fulfilling a mission to provide underprivileged children with fishing opportunities through "Casting for a Cause."
Those who were fortunate enough to know Chad remember him as a dependable person who always lent a helping hand. Friends often recall the joy of spending time with him, whether it was enjoying a good meal grilled outdoors, being on his boat at the lake or tinkering with anything mechanical. Chad loved riding in his side-by-side with his beloved dogs. He had a passion for animals and an affinity for fast cars and big trucks.
Chad found immense joy in the company of his family. He loved his mother, the late Becky Thompson, with all his heart. He also treasured attending the sporting events of his sister and nephew.
He is survived by his father, Danny Thompson; grandmother Rita Meadows; sister and brother-in-law Jordan and Anthony Buoy; nieces and nephews Emma Buoy, Beckett Buoy, and Wyatt Buoy; a large extended family, including uncles and aunts Roger and Donna Thompson, Troy and Raquel Thompson, Terry and Paula Uzzel, Tim Uzzel and Christy Uzzel; his cousins Tracy Hackett, Issac Thompson, Kelso Thompson, Willy Thompson, Bethany Mancini, and Allison Groeber; as well as many cherished friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Becky Thompson; his grandfather, Dan H. Thompson; his uncle, Kent Thompson; his great-grandmother, Opal Whattaker; and his grandmother, Carrie Uzzel.
Viewing will be held Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 3:00-5:00 pm at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service. Funeral services will held Monday, March 2, 2026 at 10:00 am at Mammoth Baptist Church in Meeker, OK. Burial to follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson, OK at 2:30 pm.
As we reflect on the life of Chad Mitchell Thompson, we remember a man who embraced life’s adventures, cared deeply for his family and friends, and whose spirit will continue to live on in the memories of those he touched.
In lieu of flowers please make donations out to Danny Thompson for Casting for a Cause.
