Shawnee lost a great man this week. He loved big, and we are all better because he was part of our lives. Carl Edmond Packwood was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on January 7, 1965 to parents Fred and Allecia Packwood. He gained his wings on March 2, 2026 after a battle with cancer where he fought with incredible courage and strength. Carl graduated from Shawnee High School where he played basketball. He also graduated from Seminole Junior College and East Central University. Carl was a long time member of First Baptist Church. He worked for Ford Motor Credit and in banking for many years including stints with BancFirst and Vision Bank. Carl was a one of a kind guy who never met a stranger. If you knew Carl you know how much he loved Shawnee and all of his family and friends. He was often called 'Rain Man' for his unusual ability to remember names, birthdays, and dates, as well as historical knowledge and wisdom about his beloved hometown.
