Braden Charles Landreth, 25, of Shawnee Oklahoma was born January 5th, 1998 in Oklahoma City to Marcy Marvin and Danny Landreth and died in Shawnee Oklahoma May 24th, 2023. Braden spent the majority of his life in Shawnee and would eventually graduate from Epic Charter Schools in 2016. Braden from an early age had a knack for people. He loved to be around people and he loved to be the center of attention. Braden was an eloquent speaker. He would write hysterical speeches simply to entertain his friends and those around him. He knew how to “win people over.”
Braden spent his first few years in car sales where he quickly climbed the ranks, becoming one of the top salesman of his dealership and eventually moved into the finance department. Braden also had difficulties in his life. He would eventually develop a substance addiction that would cause his life to spiral out of control. He worked for years to try to get clean and turn his life around, but it wasn’t until Braden found out that he was a father and when he entered the Oklahoma County Drug Court that he began to see victory over these addictions. Braden turned his life around. He would be asked to give a speech at the Oklahoma County Drug Court graduation celebration at Frontline Church in downtown Oklahoma City in April of 2022. At the time of his passing, he had been sober for over three years and had just started taking care of his boys full time. Braden worked as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist for Hope Community Services for just under a year where he spent his time helping others overcome the grips of addiction that he had found freedom from.
Braden is survived by his twin sons, Leighton & Lliam Melter; father, Danny Landreth and his wife, Brenda Landreth of Norman Oklahoma; mother, Marcene Marvin and her husband, Waylon Marvin of Creston Iowa; grandmother, Loretta Vermeer of Sioux Center, Iowa; grandmother, Suzanne Tutton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandfather, David Landreth and his wife Kim of Newalla, Oklahoma; brother, Jared Landreth, his wife Madisson and their children, Luke and Ezra of Shawnee, Oklahoma; as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marvin Vermeer of Sioux Center, Iowa.; uncle, Henry Wynia of Rock Valley, Iowa; and uncle, Marlin Vermeer of Denver, Colorado.
A celebration of Braden’s life will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee Oklahoma at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 27th. There will be a visitation at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service in Shawnee Oklahoma from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Saturday, May 27th.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations would be made to the Community Foundation of Oklahoma (that supports participants of the drug court maintain sobriety, employment and turn from a life of criminal conduct) in memory of Braden and his passion for helping people overcome the chains of their addictions. “Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:23-26 NIV
