Bobby L Denney

January 25, 1934 — August 12, 2022

Bobby Leon Denney went to his Heavenly home Friday, August 12, passing peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He spent 88 years loving his family and being a shining example of how to love his Savior and serve Him in His Church. He was born January 25, 1934 to Jesse Lilburn Leon and Pearl (Cook) Denney near Prague, Oklahoma. He had two older sisters, Reba Lawanda and Freda Belle. Bobby attended Garden Grove Elementary School and graduated from Centerview High School in 1952. After graduating, Bobby began working at Tinker Field. On December 19,1954 he married Betty Lou Clemence, daughter of Vernon and Estelle (Chessar) Clemence. They made their home in the Garden Grove community. Shortly after marrying, Betty and Bobby went to work with Betty’s Dad, Vernon, on the family farm. They welcomed their only daughter, Charmé Michelle, in 1955. The love of farming led Bobby to spend his life continuing to manage the family farm, later adding cattle, and finally acquiring more land and establishing Sunbelt Sod Farm, where he and Betty worked side by side for 13 years. His love of all things farming, including many awards and accolades he received, could not outweigh his love for his Lord. Bobby was a faithful member of Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He and Betty, along with friends Helen Chastain and Sherman Terrell, formed the Garden Grove Quartet and were known to always be ready to bring a special. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Lilburn and Pearl, his sisters Reba Nichols and Freda Lyday, his mother and father-in-law, Vernon and Estelle, and nephew Mike Nichols. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Charmé and son-in-law Donnie McCabe, granddaughters Rebekah and Jhonny Forneris, Amanda and Mark Camren, Kelli and Jason Watkins, ten great grandchildren, Layne, Isaac, wife Kerri, and Sethe, wife April, Forneris, Isaiah, Payton, Owen and Estelle (Stella) Camren, Kennedi, Gunner and Emersynn Watkins, six great great grandchildren, Timber and Josie Forneris, Gus and Ollie Forneris, and Hazel and Hattie Forneris, four nieces, Terri (Lyday) Clover, Cindi (Lyday) Ellis, Kelli (Lyday) Stevens, Nina Nichols, Donna Nichols and considered grandson Brendan McGinnis. Services have been set for Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at the Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Brother Matt Raines and assisted by Jason Watkins. Burial will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery. Visitation with family will be Monday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
