Billy Wayne Walker

Billy Wayne Walker, a devoted man known for his unwavering commitment to both his country and community, passed away on April 9, 2024, in Meeker, Oklahoma. Born on October 21, 1966, in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, Billy's life was marked by service and dedication.

Billy grew up in Meeker, Oklahoma and attended Meeker Jr. High and Meeker High School before furthering his studies at Rose State College, where he earned a degree in small engines. He also took courses at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech.

Billy's professional journey was a testament to his strong work ethic and sense of duty. He honorably served in the United States Army for twenty years from February 1988 to February 2008. Following his retirement from the military, Billy worked as a supervising Staff Sergeant at Tinker Air Force Base. Additionally, he made significant contributions to his local community by working as a dispatcher and deputy in Lincoln County.

Outside of work, Billy found joy in simple pleasures. He cherished moments spent with his family and was particularly fond of his grandchildren, Atlas Hocker and Xavier Hocker. His love for baseball was evident to those who knew him well.

One of Billy's proudest accomplishments was his involvement with Quilts of Honor, reflecting his deep sense of patriotism and compassion for others.

In his free time, Billy enjoyed attending military reunions in Tennessee, Fort Benning, and Fort Moore. These gatherings held special significance for him as they allowed him to reconnect with comrades and reminisce about shared experiences.

Family was at the core of Billy's being. Billy was preceded in death by his father, William Elmer Walker, sister, Kerri Walker, aunt, Mabel Fern Walker, and grandparents, S.W. Walker and Helen Mahala Holder Walker and Wesley Austin and Ruby Alice Woolery Austin.

He is survived by his daughter Grayceson Hocker and her husband Dakota, his son Dakota Walker, his mother Kathryn Louise Walker, grandchildren, Atlas Hocker and Xavier Hocker, sisters Lori Ledford and Terri Walker. He also leaves behind step-sisters Sherri Butler and Marjorie Flanagan, eight nieces and nephews, two uncles, two aunts, three great-nieces, two great-nephews, as well as a multitude of friends and extended family members.
