Bill Hoerning

Hoerning, Billy Neal "Bill", age 85, of Dewey, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on July 8, 1940, in Borger, Texas, and was raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He completed his early education in the area, graduating from College High School as part of the class of 1958.

In 1962, Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed boot camp at Camp Pendleton in California. He served with distinction from 1962 to 1968, with assignments at Camp Lejeune during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Marine Barracks in Key West, Florida and active combat during the Vietnam conflict.

Following his military service, Bill met the love of his life, Carolyn F. Riley. They were united in marriage on February 2, 1968, and have faithfully loved one another for over 58 years. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Stacey, whom Bill adored and later with their beloved son-in-law Brian.

Bill's career spanned 34 years at Reda Pump / Schlumberger before his retirement in 2001. Bill was a quiet and reserved individual whose affinity to detail was evident in everything to which he set his hands. His legacy is one of integrity, strength, a quiet faith, and an enduring love, which is carried on through those he cherished most.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence L. Hoerning and Millie E. Milburn, two brothers, Carl Hoerning and Lonnie Hoerning, and two sisters, Dorothy Griggs and Karleta Sisney.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn of the home, daughter, Stacey Copeland and husband Brian (BJ, Cheri, Kade), sister, Nancy Hollandsworth, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside ceremony with Marine Corps honors will be held privately at the Ochelata cemetery.
