Billy A. Armstrong

Billy A. Armstrong, a cherished soul known for his selflessness and a heartwarming sense of humor, passed away on April 13, 2026, in his hometown of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Billy was born on October 4, 1934 to Royal Thurman Armstrong and Flora (Harper) Armstrong.

Billy's life was marked by dedicated service and a generous spirit. He proudly retired from the United States Air Force Reserves. He worked as a B52 Structure Sheet Metal Training Manager at Tinker Air Force Base, where he was respected not only for his expertise but also for his kind nature and quick laugh that brought ease and joy to those around him.

Those who knew Billy remember a man who genuinely enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved guns and the outdoors, embracing camping and deer hunting with the passion of a true outdoorsman. In his younger years, Billy enjoyed water skiing and was always in the mood for a nice, cold Diet Coke. Many mornings, you could find him enjoying coffee with friends at the local gas station. Billy was also an avid fan of OU football, finding excitement in every game watched with friends and family.

Billy was known for his sweet disposition, but he often took the opportunity to give anyone a hard time. He was, above all, a good person—selfless, caring, and deeply loved by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Royal Thurman Armstrong and Flora Armstrong French; siblings, Dixie Hodge, Royce Thurman Armstrong, and James Armstrong; grandson, Michael Armstrong; and his late wife, Mary Snider Armstrong.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 35 years, Jane Etta Armstrong; sons: CA Armstrong and wife Gina of Shawnee and Joe Armstrong and wife Ann of Shawnee; step-children, Tayna Clemence of Shawnee and John Bizzell and wife BJ of Maude; grandchildren, Curt Armstrong, Tyler Armstrong, Justin Bizzell, Jeffery Thrasher, Sarah Dockrey and husband Clayton, Dillon Franklin, and Austin Bizzell; nephews, Poncho Armstrong and James Armstrong; niece, Deann Armstrong; as well as many extended family members.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Billy will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Grand Casino Hotel & Resort, located at 777 Grand Casino Blvd, Shawnee, Oklahoma.
