Billie Lora Hickey

Billie Lora Hickey, born on July 15, 1939, in Watonga, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 85.

An alumna of the University of Oklahoma, Billie earned her degree in art education and taught for before dedicating herself full-time to raising her family. On January 23, 1965, she married the love of her life, Arlie Monroe Hickey and together they built a home filled with care, creativity, and devotion.

She will be missed by her two sons, William Eugene Hickey and Arlie Monroe Hickey, Jr., both of Macomb, Oklahoma; her sister, Rachel Sivils of Arlington, Texas; and two nieces, Brenda Wilson and Kathy Chism, also of Arlington. A host of friends, nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews, will also miss her dearly.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Monroe Hickey; her parents, Eugene Frank Chism and Mildred Viola Havlovic Chism; her sister, Frankie Charlene Chism; her niece, Rebecca Gail Shilling; her uncles, William John and Charlie Clarence Havlovic; her aunt, Daisy Gertrude Shaw; and her cousin, Mildred LaDonna Shaw James.

Billie was a longtime member of Romulus Baptist Church, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life. She was a talented crafter and shared her creative gifts generously. She also spent many years active in 4-H alongside her sons, encouraging their growth and accomplishments with dedication and love.

She will be deeply missed by her family, church community, and all who were fortunate to know her.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 1 - 6 pm at Walker Funeral and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held to honor her life and legacy at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 7th at Romulus Baptist Church, Macomb. Pastor Jason Lee will perform the service. Interment will be following the service at Resthaven Memorial Park in the Garden of the Good Shepherd, Shawnee. Those wishing to remember Billie are encouraged to reflect on the joy and kindness she shared throughout her life.
