Beverly Gail Wahpepah-Shankle

Beverly Gail Wahpepah-Shankle, resident of Shawnee, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.

Beverly was born on November 8, 1945, and is a loving daughter of Cecilia Jennings-Makaseah and Fred Sr. Wahpepah.  Beverly resided in Shawnee, Oklahoma for most of her time here on earth. Beverly graduated High School from Bell Gardens High School in Bell Gardens, California. Beverly gave birth to three beautiful daughters. She joins her second born, Mercedes Wahpepah, in Heaven. Her surviving daughters are Crystal Wahpepah and Cecilia Wahpepah. Her daughters loved her dearly and always enjoyed their time with mom and continue to carry on her legacy. Beverly's grandkids were her pride and joy; she was very proud of each and every one of them. Their names are: Robert Osife, Rosario Hopper, Serena Osife, Tara Wallace, Rikki Hopper, Ryan Wallace, Kala Hopper, Christian Mora, Kylee Mora and Starlotte Mora. Beverly was a great-grandmother to: Emiliano Osife, Willow Standing and soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Nyelli Osife. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Beverly has one surviving sister, Carleta Billy. Carleta is her older sister and gave her the nickname, "Bev". Carleta would visit from out of state as much as she could and they would enjoy laughing, praying and eating Braum's together. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Shankle and also by her loving siblings: Fred Jr. Wahpepah, Myrna Wright, Teresa Bellanger, Bill Wahpepah.

Beverly loved the Lord with all of her heart and enjoyed her fellowship at Faith Connection Church with pastors John and Bernice Campbell. Beverly was full of joy and never missed a beat, her memory was sharp as-a-tac. She will be missed beyond measure and loved for eternity.

A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Faith Connection Church in Shawnee. Following the ceremony, Beverly will be laid to rest at Wakolee Cemetery.

All floral tributes can be sent to Faith Connection Church, 622 South Park Ave, Shawnee, Oklahoma on Saturday.

Please bring a dish for the potluck after the burial service to the Rolling Hills Community Center, 2102 East Main St. Shawnee, OK 74801.

Directions to Wakolee Cemetery: From intersection of I-40 and Highway 18, turn north onto Highway 18 and travel 3.3 miles to Moccasin Trail Rd and turn east. Travel 2 miles to Brangus Road and turn south. Travel 0.7 miles and turn east onto a dirt/gravel driveway between two houses and go approximately 0.1 miles to the cemetery gates. There will not be a sign.
