Nolen, Betty Jean Geisler, age 89, passed away June 30, 2026, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was born to Henry E. and Edna (Seebeck) Geisler on August 9, 1936, on the family farm near Wellston, Oklahoma.
Betty spent her early years in the area, attending Good Hope School north of Harrah, Washington Grade School, Shawnee Junior High, and Shawnee High School, graduating in May 1954.
Faith was a deeply important part of Betty’s life. She was baptized on September 20, 1936, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and confirmed on March 19, 1951, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shawnee. The love of her life, Bobby Joe Nolen, became her husband on October 22, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Throughout the years, Betty excelled as a bookkeeper at Shawnee Loan, Cole Finance, Kenneth Bovee Co., and later W.C. Gouldy Co., where she worked for more than 30 years.
Betty was a kind, gentle woman whose spirit was welcoming and warm to those who knew her. She had a presence that drew others in, making them feel special because they truly were special to her. Betty carried a thoughtful awareness of how she impacted others and was always mindful of doing all she could to help. She was deeply loved by those who were blessed to have her in their lives.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Nolen and wife Karen of Shawnee; daughter, Marjeana “Jeana” Nolen of Niceville, Florida; sister, Mae Potts and partner Gene Linn of Shawnee; grandson, Austin Nolen and wife Tandra of Broken Arrow; and great-granddaughter, Stella Nolen of Broken Arrow.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Edna Geisler, and her husband, Bob.
Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 39307 W. MacArthur Street, Shawnee, OK 74804. Following the ceremony, Betty will be laid to rest privately next to her beloved husband, Bob, at Resthaven Memorial Park.
