Betty Jo Aloway

Betty Jo (Orr) Aloway, known for her dedication to family and creating a warm and inviting home, passed away on June 13, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on May 15, 1935, in Oklahoma City to her loving parents Henry and Harvie Orr. Jo was the beloved wife of Melvin Aloway for over 70 years.

Jo's passion for family and homemaking shone through in her taking care of her loved ones by turning a house into a cherished home. Her proudest achievements were her three children: Tonya, Keith, and Steven.

She graduated from Earlsboro High School in 1953 and went on to build a beautiful life filled with precious memories. Jo had a keen eye for finding whole sand dollars during trips to Crystal Beach and enjoyed peaceful days at the lake cabin. Her love for holidays, especially Christmas, was evident in her enthusiasm for decorating with her family and baking chocolate chip cookies.

A woman with a perpetual smile and a curious spirit, Jo was always protective of those around her. She found joy in sewing as an exceptional seamstress, indulging in embroidery work, tending to her beloved flowers, and admiring anything adorned with butterflies.

Jo is survived by her devoted husband Mel Aloway; children Tonya Reeder of Livingston, TN, Keith Aloway and wife Nancy of Broken Arrow, OK, Steven Aloway and wife Cindy of Montgomery, TX; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild soon to arrive; 1 great-great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Harvie Orr, and sister Thelma Mitchell.
