Berniece Testerman Lowder

Berniece Lowder, resident of Shawnee, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025. She was 96 years old. Berniece was born on January 10, 1929 in Panther, West Virginia to her parents, Troy and Belle Testerman. After graduating high school, Berniece attended McLain's Business College in Bluefield, WV and John Tyler Community College in Richmond, VA. She married. W. James Lowder on October 24, 1947 in Abbs Valley, Virginia.

Berniece was a faithful member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. She participated in missions and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a lover of all God’s creations, especially animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Belle Testerman and husband, W. James Lowder.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Thomas W. Lowder and wife ChiChi, W. Dwight Lowder and wife Janet, and Curt and wife Karen, seven grandchildren, Sarah Burton, James Lowder, Allison Taylor and husband Jerry, Kaylee Lowder, Bernice Michelle Lowder, William Curtis Lowder, and Shannon Blackwood and husband Derek, and six great-grandchildren, Brenner Lowder, Brynlyn Blackwood, Zion Taylor, Zaven Taylor, Samantha Burton and Edward Burton.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 1:00 – 7:00 pm. A funeral ceremony for Berniece will be held at the Walker Funeral Chapel at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 with Danny Napier officiating. Following the ceremony, Berniece will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.

Pallbearers will be the Faith Riders of Rock Creek Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Pregnancy Center in Shawnee, OK.
