Barbara Elizabeth Huskey, age 89, resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma peacefully passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 in Shawnee, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born October 5, 1935 in Vine Grove, Kentucky, the daughter of Barna B. and Francis Marion Hager, she was the youngest of 10 children. Barbara was raised in Kentucky and attended an all-girls Catholic school. Barbara married Cecil F. Huskey of Edgemoor, Tennessee on August 1, 1950 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, he was the oldest of 12 children. They were married just shy of 71 years before Cecil's passing in 2021. Their marriage welcomed three children, Pam, Bruce, and Germaine. As a military spouse, Barbara and her family had adventures across the globe.

After her last child was born Barbara went back to school and earned her GED and attended college classes focusing on accounting and computer skills. She spent most of her career as a bookkeeper for various companies, as well as Cecil and Barbara’s rental home business in Lawton, Oklahoma. Barbara was an accomplished cook known for her many great meals and delicious desserts. She generously shared her recipes with family and friends. She loved gardening including house plants, outdoor vegetable and flowering landscape beds. Barbara was a skilled seamstress, she made clothes for herself, her daughters and her granddaughters and she loved teaching others the skill. She also enjoyed quilting and it gave her great pleasure to gift people with her creations. She even made a quilt for her son-in-law just weeks before her passing. She enjoyed listening to music and her choices were widely varied. Barbara was a voracious reader, often completing 1-2 books every day. In addition to her career, work at home and hobbies, she found time to volunteer at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital gift shop for 25+ years. She also shared with her husband a love for their dogs and fast sports cars. Her greatest passion was time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara was survived by daughter Pam Gorse and husband Darry of Sherman, Texas, son Bruce Huskey and wife Diane of Waurika, Oklahoma and daughter Germaine Madsen and husband Reno of Valley View, Texas, grandson Cory Green and wife Kim of Oregon, grandson Heath Huskey and partner Robin of Maryland, granddaughter Shannon Chandler and husband Chris of Seminole, Oklahoma, granddaughter Catie Huskey and partner Kyle of Yukon, Oklahoma and great grandchildren Austin Chandler and Scarlett Chandler.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil, and siblings: Frances, William, George, Damion, Martha, Charles, Kathryn, Jean and Annette.

A memorial ceremony to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2025 in the Chapel at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service located at 201 E 45th Street in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Chaplain Steve Roach will be officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest with her husband Cecil at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
