Barbara Evelyn Battige

Barbara Battige, resident of Shawnee, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, surrounded by her family. She will be remembered for her love for her family and friends. Barbara was born on August 11, 1939 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was one of two girls born to George and Helen Philipp.

Barbara graduated from Rufus King High School. She married James (Jim), the love of her life, on June 27, 1964. Barbara was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and loved her church family. Jim and Barbara moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1979. After Jim retired from TDK in 1999, they moved to Grove, Oklahoma where they enjoyed playing golf, socializing and were active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Barbara loved to entertain, host gatherings, cook, crochet, travel and was amazing at calligraphing. During the last few years, Barbara loved to color. She would make amazing pictures for the residents and staff of Primrose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, of 45 years, her parents, her sister, Dorothy and beloved grandson, Garrett.

She is survived by two sons, Gary and wife, Beth; Bob and wife, Lisa; 6 grandchildren and spouses: Jordan and Jason Keener, Lauren and Matt Bowlan, Kaitlyn and Jake Thorpe, Bobby and Alyssa Battige, Kelseigh and Terry Sharp, Kyle and Quincy Clement; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family of Barbara wants to extend our deepest appreciation to the following: Redeemer Lutheran Church, Primrose Retirement Community, Cohesive Hospice, and Walker Funeral Service.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm with family present to greet friends from 5-7pm. A funeral ceremony for Barbara will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shawnee. She will be laid to rest on Monday, July 28th at 1:00 pm at Olympus North Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma.
