Arthur Ray Wapskineh “King Arthur” was born on June 26, 1967 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to the Late Linda Mae Slick and Willard Willis Wapskineh. He gained his wings on January 6, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones. Arthur accepted Christ at an early age, he was a member of the Fresh Fire Outreach Church and attended other churches as well. He was a proud member of the Sac and Fox Nation and grew up knowing his traditional ways. “King Arthur” loved unconditionally as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He felt complete when he was with his family, he was a huge fan of OU, he loved to entertain everyone with his jokes and tricks. For his entertainment he enjoyed listening to various types of music, spending his free time at the casino, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
Arthur was a lifelong resident of Shawnee Oklahoma where he attended school and did various types of jobs for everyone that had asked of him.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Linda Slick and Willard Wapskineh, grandparents Ethel Mack and Willis Wapskineh, brother Loren “Chico” Wapskineh, sister Ethel Wapskineh, and grandson Neremiah Phillips.
Arthur was survived by his wife Joann Nenaikita Wapskineh, children Carrie Watkins, Miranda Phillips, Melinda Wapskineh, and Janna Wapskineh, siblings Cara Mack, Verna Wapskineh, Lance Wapskineh, Dina Mack, 16 grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Tribal services will start at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9 at First Indian Baptist Church in Shawnee. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at First Indian Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Wakolee Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
