Shawnee resident, Billie Hoyt Davis, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Bill was a member of Dale Baptist Church.
He was born on February 7, 1930 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to J. Hoyt Davis and Jennie Douthitt Davis. Bill's family has lived in the Shawnee area for 128 years after first arriving during the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889.
Bill graduated from Shawnee High School and continued his education at OBU. He went on to get a Business degree from Neff's Business College.
During Bill's career, he worked at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, California, was Manager at Family Loan in Shawnee then went on to Tinker Air Force Base where he was in charge of Material Controls, retiring after 17 years of service.
In 1986, Bill met the love of his life, Anita Richmond, who he married on November 28, 1986. The Lord blessed Bill and Anita with 29 years of marriage. Bill said he had many miracles in his life and one of the greatest was the Lord bringing him and Anita together.
Bill had a passion for many things including golf, flying and singing gospel music. Bill and Anita regularly attended and played together at gospel singings. Bill loved the Lord and loved to tell the gospel story through music. Bill loved people and had many close friends. He is remembered fondly by everyone who knew him. He had an amazing sense of humor and an incredible wit. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family dearly.
Bill is survived by his wife, Anita Davis of the home, his son Jay Hoyt Davis and wife, Stephannie of Shawnee; and three daughters: Melinda Kinney and husband, John of Mooreland, Lorri Davis of Edmond, and Elizabeth Wilkins and husband, Scott of Shawnee; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Davis of Shawnee, Jeremiah Davis and wife, Misty of Shawnee, Stephen McAllister and wife Michelle of Oklahoma City, Erryn Bryce and husband, Todd of Shawnee, Katy Wood and husband Zach of Shawnee, Elizabeth Stidham and husband Scott of Sapulpa, Jennica Kenny and husband Jeff of Woodward, Joe D. Pittman, Kari Pittman and Jesse Pittman of Edmond, Caleb Wilkins and wife Megan of Norman, Bethany Wilkins of Edmond; 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He will be greatly missed, but we look forward to being reunited with him again in God's Heavenly home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Doug Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery.
